While every attorney may be qualified to represent a client on appeal, not every lawyer has the time, experience, expertise or even the temperament to litigate cases on appeal. Appeals typically require intensive research; an even greater analysis of the issues than is required in the trial court; an experienced understanding of the applicable standard of appellate review applicable to each issue, and to each ruling or determination in the trial court; and a working familiarity with the many procedural issues that may arise on appeal.  Many of the cases take years to resolve.
